How to Root Galaxy S5 SM-G900F (International Qualcomm) – Easiest Method

Here we are going to guide step by stephow to root your Galaxy S5 SM-900F in the safest and easiest way with CF–root. CF auto-root tool is developed by Chainfire, a recognized member of the XDA Developer forum. It is the root for Rooting newbies and for those who want keep as close to stock as possible. CF-root is meant to be used in combination with stock Samsung firmwares, and be the easiest and quickest way for your first root.

There are certain points that you should keep in mind before rooting:

  • The provided rooting guide is just for Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F model. (Check your S5 model number by going to settings > about pone > model number)
  • You will lose your device warranty once you done rooting.
  • Although CF auto root developers claim that it will not affect any stored data or app but we recommend you backup all necessary files, docs, photos and other stuff as a precautionary measurement just in case if anything goes wrong.
  • Check device battery. It should be atleast 60%  or more.
  • USB Drivers must be installed on the computer with USB Debugging enabled on the device to transfer files between the phone and computer

How to Root Galaxy S5 SM-G900F – Stepwise tutorial

Step 1: First of all you need to download CF-Auto root file – Click here to download

Step 2: Download Samsung Kies (Click here) and install them. Make sure it is not running in the background and you quit it.

Step 3: Now go to the downloaded CF auto root file, right click on it and extract it. You will have Odin included in the file. (If by chance you don’t have Odin there you can download Odin. – You will wouldn’t need it as CF auto root file have always included Odin).

Step 4: Turn your phone off and then hold on Volume down, home and power buttons at the same time. Once a warning screen is displayed, hold volume up button to enter into download mode.

Step 5: Once you enter in the downloading mode, connect your phone to the PC with USB cable.

Step 6: After connecting your device, go to the PC and right click on the Odin, Select run as administrator and now as long as you have driver installed properly Box in Odin window will turn Blue (as Shown in picture)

The drivers get installed once you installed Samsung Kies. If it does not turn blue make sure you check to see if Kies is running in the background, if it is then go ahead and exit it, close Odin and re launch it. If not then uninstall Kies, reboot your PC, reinstall Kies and your galaxy S5 will get detected.

Step 7: Then Click on PDA and select CF auto root (a .tar.md5 file) that was just extracted and Click Start.

Step 8: Once you get the coveted “PASS!” in Odin, your Galaxy S5 should reboot by itself. Your phone should then enter a special recovery with a red Android logo. You don’t have to make changes in anything else, just wait out the procedure and you’re done!
